The mechanical engineer is in charge of the design, manufacture, production, maintenance, control and management of industrial machinery and equipment. His fundamental mission is to ensure that Peruvian industry uses competitive and appropriate technology.

Therefore, the advantage that a student trained at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú acquires as a mechanical engineer is the high professional and humanistic training, which allows him/her to occupy management positions of high responsibility, so that he/she can work both in the professional and independent practice as well as in the business field.

The student should develop logical reasoning and good capacities of abstraction, imagination, analysis, synthesis, visual perception and manual ability. In addition, they should be planners and interested in the orderly handling of objects, instruments and data. Ability and preference for science, technology and computer science will also be essential.
