In 1970, due to the growing industrial development in Peru, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) extended its field of action to include the specialties of Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering and Mechanical-Industrial Engineering. This expansion program was financially supported by the Dutch (Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical-Industrial Engineering) and British (Mining Engineering) governments, and the private industrial sector, with programs for teacher training, expert advice, construction of facilities and laboratory equipment.
Years later, the curriculum of the Mechanical-Industrial Engineering major was significantly modified, incorporating courses in the area of Management and changing its name to Industrial Engineering. In the 1981-2 semester, the first graduating class graduated under this name. By 1984, the Industrial Engineering Section (SII) had begun to consolidate and began to offer the business sector and the country's professionals, training activities in various fields of business management, aimed at professionals seeking to specialize in a short time. Since 1985, modifications have been made to the curriculum, focusing on content and continuous updating.
