History

The creation of the Bioengineering section was approved on September 15, 2021 by the University Assembly, on the recommendation of the Academic Vice Chancellor who presented the communication dated August 18, 2021 addressed by the Head of the Academic Department of Engineering, by means of which the proposal for the creation of the Mechatronics and Bioengineering sections of the Academic Department of Engineering was presented. As of March 2022, with the assignment of a section coordinator, administrative processes for the transfer of resources and systems began, which is expected to culminate in 2023.

The creation of this section is based on the need to create a unit dedicated to meet the needs of a growing number of students, teachers, researchers, innovators and graduates interested in training, research and innovation in this branch of engineering. Thus, the section provides support to the PUCP-UPCH Biomedical Engineering program, to the Diploma of Study in Development and Life Cycle Management of Medical Devices, and to the Center for Scientific Research and Technological Development of the PUCP in the discipline of Medical Engineering authorized by Concytec.
