PUCP Engineering: "MASI" project published on Google Arts & Culture

Recently, PUCP has obtained its own profile on Google Arts & Culture, with a total of nine virtual collections, making it the first Peruvian university on this well-known platform, with the aim of showcasing the various ways in which the university is innovating. Google Arts & Culture is a website and application that allows users from anywhere in the world to explore collections, graphic, artistic, and cultural documents on various topics.

For this reason, the Office of Cultural Affairs (DACU) contacted various departments at PUCP to select the projects that would make up the university's virtual collections at Google Arts & Culture and commissioned the Department of Engineering, through engineer Carlos Yaya, to take charge of this project. Among these nine collections in the PUCP profile, we find the mechanical ventilator "MASI" mechanical ventilator, developed by researchers from the Engineering Department coordinated by Dr. Benjamín Castañeda, which has helped save many lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. "This was chosen because of its importance and the impact it had during the toughest stages of the pandemic. The project is a major contribution to health and technological innovation in Peru," said Mr. Yaya.

With this renowned platform, millions of users around the world will be able to visually appreciate PUCP's most outstanding, innovative, and impactful projects, as it is a tool with potential that is accessible to everyone. "Google Arts & Culture is a powerful tool, as it provides a different reach and leverages the impact of images to explain what you want to communicate. The versatility of the platform allows you to showcase historical projects as well as technological projects without any problems," concluded Carlos Yaya.
