Microscopy Laboratory

Contacto:

626-2000 annexes 5019

This laboratory, inaugurated in 2014, provides support to teaching in methods of analysis and microscopy, especially in training in the field of geological engineering. Research work for undergraduate and graduate students is carried out in its facilities. It is equipped with state-of-the-art microscopes of the best brands (LEICA, ZEISS, OLYMPUS, NIKON). These instruments, whose parts are of high precision, allow the identification of translucent and opaque minerals in thin and polished sections respectively. In this way, the microscopes provide qualitative information about the mineral, such as texture, mineral intergrowth and petrographic classification, as the case may be.

Regarding the services provided to third parties, such as mining companies, depending on the client's consultation and requirement, solutions to problems are offered through mineralogical, petrographic and mineragraphic studies.
